Dalton’s ground can be found just after Our Lady’s school. 8s meet at 10am, 10s at 1030am please. *Park on the road for a quick getaway.
Sunday sees us making the short trip to Dalton after a two week break that will hopefully have shaken off the cobwebs a little. The 8s will be up against it with Dalton fielding a big capable side from what we saw at Walney. After the fantastic performance at Millom, Andy & Peter will be looking to kick on and introduce some more of the passing that saw us scoring so many tries and to reinforce the defence that stood firm for long periods of time against good opposition. I'll be looking for Ethan & Spencer to start to feed off each other's speed and developing skills and to open up opportunities for the rest of the team to enjoy the success they are having and for the rest of the team to position themselves correctly to take advantage of this.
The 10s need a defensive performance like the opening game of the season. The rest of their game is without doubt full of skills and confidence and if we can complement the free flowing passing rugby with a sturdy defence that moves off the line (fill in the rest) _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ we'll be fine. The kids are starting to read the game well and are making the correct decisions on the pitch with little prompting from either Dean or myself. They know when to keep hold and put their heads down but they also know to look for gaps and to pass the ball wide when circumstances permit. This is very encouraging and testament to the hard work they put in at training. Attack with the ball and then attack without the ball. A fortnight's break may be just the tonic we need as we come up against what will no doubt be a very good Dalton side. We will again have lots of substitutes so please help us here by understanding and following the no train / no play rule and by giving us as much notice as you can should your child not be available (the kit would help here as well if possible).
