Following another fixture free weekend we move into festival season after this weekend’s short trip to Askam. The 8s will be up against what is always a well drilled and well disciplined side with a few very talented kids. We continue to grow week after week and it’s a pleasure to see the old heads setting the examples for the younger kids, many of whom have come from the Micro sessions that continue to be very well attended. We need to continue to build and challenge ourselves to do things that we wouldn’t normally do. Under Andy and Peter they have come on leaps and bounds over the first fixtures of the season – let’s carry this on at Askam.
The 10s will be looking to shake off the brilliant/not interested/can’t be bothered/brilliant again pattern that they have settled into with a win. They demonstrated yet again that on their day, after an early night and a big breakfast and with some self belief and more than a little fire in their bellies they are a match for anyone. Dalton are a very good side and last weekend’s win was a hard earned one. This week won’t be any different.
Festival season follows this week’s normal fixture we take a brief detour into festivals *see fixture list. These start with a trip to Craven Park on Monday 3 May (KO to be confirmed) then back to Askam the following week (again TBC). Festivals are generally three 7.5 minutes each way games against similar opponents. Craven Park is Bank Holiday so please let me know if you’re not available as soon as you can.
ASKAMS GROUND IS ACROSS THE TRACKS PAST THE COOP AND FIRST RIGHT FOLLOWED BY THE NEXT LEFT AND FOLLOW THE ROAD AROUND. 8S MEET AT 10 FOR 1030KO FOLLOWED BY 10S AT 11 FOR 1130KO.
I’D ADVISE THAT THE KIDS ALL WEAR SOMETHING THAT COVERS KNEES AND ELBOWS DUE TO THE RECENT DRY SPELL.
