This Sunday sees The Storm take on another vastly experienced outfit in Marsh Hornets.
Again, the results are academic but from experience I know that all these “real” games will stand the teams in good stead for the fast-approaching season.
Game day gives the coaches the chance to address issues that only become obvious in a competitive environment.
For instance, the 8s incurred four tries in the same corner against Ulverston.
This was nothing to do with technique or determination – we simply didn’t move off the line.
This is easily remedied and without wanting the boys (and girls) to become robots it is a necessary part of the game and will be fixed this week.
What they do when they get there is up to them - within reason!
The 10s suffered from a lot of lost possession.
This was purely down to ball carrying technique and again, is easily remedied.
Nobody disgraced themselves, everyone was sporting and they all carried on despite the cold.
If as a coaching team we only have to tweak the basics and can allow the kids the free spirit to play then we have the makings of two very good sides.
Under 8s KO 11am (meet at 10.30) followed by 10s KO 1145 (meet at 11.15)
