***DEPART HAWCOAT PARK AT 5.00PM FRIDAY***
I've not really had many opportunities to watch the 10s this season as I've either been reffing or warming the 8s up.
I'd just like to take this opportunity to say that the second half performance I witnessed on Sunday made the hairs on my neck stand up. As a team unit you pulled together marvelously.
The unsung heroes of Olly, Singo, Petch, Rooney and Co who never really shine deserve a special mention here for the determination and sheer guts to run at guys who were bigger and vastly more experienced without ever taking a backward step or any thought other than to progress the ball.
I'm pleased to say that when I move up with Lewis next season and leave the 8s in Petch Sr's capable hands I already know that Dean and I have the foundations of a fantastic team for 2010 and one that I think will be extremely hard to beat.
Well done guys. Enough of the waffle!
UNDER 8S KO 530 ish
Askam should never be underestimated and if you observe their play you'll notice how well drilled as a unit they are.
They will make it hard for us in attack as they move forward together as a cohesive unit and they have some big players in their ranks.
We need to be at our second half best for the whole game on Friday and we'll be looking to put some points on the board for those who have yet to get any.
With the passing skills from the guys involved in the 6 pass move and the confidence that we demonstrated against Ulverston it shouldn't be a problem should it?
The arrow straight running from everyone on the field on Sunday was evidence of how far all the boys have come in a short time. It takes guts to run at people and we now have them without exception.
UNDER 10S KO
We need to carry on where we left off and it will be a slog out on the pitch.
If we can chip away and gain POSITION and POSSESSION we can get a result.
The venom shown by Wazza and Elliott is a key ingredient in what is missing from our team in this more intense age group so please don't be shy in winding the boys up a little (it makes Dean's life a lot easier).
More unglamorous work from the likes of Rory, Jonah and Declan will set the platform for the rest of the team.
We can score tries so let's shut up shop and stop leaking them.
Our defence is still static at the play the ball instead of moving off the line to stop any would be attack and make a passing move pointless.
The boys were only spared a session with the Cheerleaders by their second half performance on Sunday - you have been warned and there is a queue of expectant fathers sort of hoping you have a defensive nightmare.
You need to work together to prove them wrong and to avert a Cheerleading disaster to which the Evening Mail will be most welcome.
MERCHANDISE ORDER MUST GO IN BY WEDNESDAY NEXT WEEK. LAST ORDERS AT 12S TRAINING WED 17TH
