The short trip to Crosslands Park is always a nice one with the ground being closer to some homes than our own. The 8s are a very similar side to us in that they have one or two old timers and a load of little ‘uns and following last week’s performance and another very good training session on Friday we should be looking at a good game. We seem to be suffering this weekend because of player’s football commitments. Much as I encourage the kids to play all sports I’ll be disappointed with the football festival organisers if we’re unable to field a full side. After all, we don’t reschedule Rugby games for Saturdays so why do they insist on impacting the RL with their fixtures / festivals? It’s unfair to put kids and their parents in a position where they have to make a choice. Historically it’s been Footy Saturday and Rugby Sunday, shouldn’t we leave it like that to avoid these situations. To those who have chosen to play Rugby, thank you. To those who have chosen to play football, good luck and take your determined running to the game and you’ll do fine. To the football festival organisers, cheers!
The 10s should build on an impressive (but leaky) performance at Ulverston last weekend by getting off the line together. My spy in the camp told me that after running up and down the banking 30 times they were made to do it again and then forced to move together off the line like proper defenders for the majority of the session. My answer to the spy and to all the other 10s is, if you don’t want to do it in training prove to your coaches that you don’t need to practice it – easy!
VERY VERY VERY LAST CHANCE FOR THOSE WANTING NEW CLUB MERCHANDISE, THE KIT ORDER IS GOING IN NEXT WEEK SO WE HAVE THE STRIPS FOR SEPTEMBER.
