Roose Away Review

A closely fought game (as predicted) saw the 8s run out eventual winners with a 5-4 score line.
Tries from Spencer (1), Archie (1) and Lewis (3) made for a great spectacle on a beautiful sunny morning.
As a team effort the defence was fantastic and it was four moments of not concentrating that allowed Roose to score rather than poor execution or positioning.
We still need to straighten up in some departments and also make the tackles stick when we’ve done the hard work to make the initial contact but it was another great display as the boys continue to gel.
Every one of them brings something to the team regardless of experience or physical size – well done!
It was good to see Aunties and Uncles along the touchline as well as our normally excellent spectators. I must stress again that the boys do respond to the cheers from the side so keep it up and turn it up!

A cast of thousands seemed to queue up to get a game for the 10s in what is an excellent advert for our marketing skills but not such a good scenario for those responsible for interchanges!
A 4-1 score line in Roose’s favour was probably a fair result on reflection.
Warren’s rip-snorter of a try certainly being the highlight of a hit and miss game.
Matty was marked out of the game for obvious reasons and will look to hit the 100 against Ulverston this week.
The number of 8s parents who purposely stayed on to applaud Matthew is testament to the great family ethos we have at the club and it made me very proud indeed (better luck this week pal.)
On the pitch there was a definite divide between those who wanted it and those who gave the impression that they weren’t that bothered.
Where we have this sort of divide then we’re going to get beat!
Aaron unfortunately fractured a finger during the game so we wish him all the best and also thank him for not screaming like a girl! *Note to child welfare officer – joke. He’s a brave lad who never let on
