Ulverston 38 - Hawcoat Storm 40
A beautiful day once again on a very good pitch considering the recent dry spell was perfect preparation for the game to come this week.
A wide pitch suited the Storm boys perfectly and their willingness to run and pass to team mates was certainly at home here.
The scoring opened early and it looked as though we may have too much for the Ulverston squad.
To their credit they cane right back at us with some mazy runs exposing weaknesses in our defence.
Kian, Buzz and Archie making some hard yards for their older and bigger team mates showing a solid team performance.
Tries were scored by Matty (4 with 2 converted), Ell (1 with 1 converted), Will (1), Jacob (1) , Olly (1) and a conversion from Petch giving us a final tally of 40 points.
Where we scored Ulverston mirrored us and the close result shows how evenly matched we were on the day.
A special mention to Wazza who played on through painful shin splints that from experience will only go away with rest and really expensive trainers!
The most heartening thing from the day (apart from the exceptional refereeing) was the fact that, despite being clearly through the opponents line we still continued on in support of our team mates.
We just need to start wrapping legs up now instead of cuddling!
