HINDPOOL
A very good team performance gave us the 10 tries we scored (Ethan 4 (which took his personal tally to 70), Spencer 3, Coops 1, Macca’s 1st and a beautiful interception try from Adam who I’m sure, thought all his birthdays had come at once when the ball hit his hands!) but what I was even more impressed with was the 0 we allowed the opposition to score. We’ve finished the season in magnificent fashion and the number of parents lining the touchline in appalling conditions shows that you now play the Hawcoat Storm brand of entertaining, free flowing and hard tackling rugby we’ve been teaching all year. Well done kids.
We took the opportunity to field our soon-to-be 12s against Hindpool who were complimented with our younger 10s and Captain for the day was Jess who unfortunately must join a girl’s squad next season and will be missed for her mad laughing in the tackle if nothing else! I know the players gave Dean both reassurance and worries as they lost a little direction and stopped talking but some massive performances from all of our players on both sides of the pitch made for an entertaining (if a little wet) spectacle. Tries for Lew, Jacob, Ell, Matty, Wazza (2) and Oliver playing an absolute blinder (2). It’s an absolute pleasure to referee games where kids play fair but hard and that’s exactly what they did. A brilliant result and a special thanks to everyone who pulled on a Hindpool shirt.
