Hindpool Away
Under 8s Won 8-4
We talked about Ethan spreading the wealth a bit today if he could (in case you were wondering why he covered every inch of the pitch looking for someone to pass to before giving up and going for the line himself). This speaks volumes for Ethan and the team mates he had in support and the passing that went on between them. We were up against a very capable team of 8s who, a little like us, were not afraid to pass the ball about. Spencer (who’s all better now thankfully) was missed but we filled the gap and every player did their bit in a good attacking and great defensive display. Ethan put another four tries in his account, Adam’s jinking runs and quick feet got him another two, Sam went hard for the corner and LJ took no prisoners on his way to the whitewash. Further marked improvements from Pos and Coops who did everything but score. Morgan and Macca continue to run the hard yards and along with Will who’s confidence is growing every game we complimented the rest of our team with a good display. Steph and Sam again making some try saving tackles out wide on opposite flanks and Bob getting some valuable game time. A good win against a good team.
Under 10s Won 9-7 (36-28)
It was more of the same from the 10s who put in an excellent display in attack and were leaky in defence. Fortunately we are continuing to get away with conceding tries because of our ability to score. The tackling bags will be out on Friday, be sure of that! The dreaded “who wants to play for the other side “ call was made and again we had three instant, willing volunteers. The guys who put on the Hindpool shirt not only enjoyed a full game but allowed it to be played with a full compliment. Thanks to the trio (but don’t sound so keen if we have to do it again.) Some good passing moves resulted in scores from Matty (3) and Will (2) with Wazza (1) and Elliott (3) taking the more “direct” route. I’m sure the watching parents will agree that whether blasting it in with our big guys or spraying the ball around, we look good in attack. Where we stood off we let in and once more we need to man up at the play the ball, just like we do in training and move off the line to take the sting out of the attack, just like we do in training.
Dean and I have decided because of the squad size and in preparation for the upcoming 12s season to now split the forwards and backs. This may see training change a little but we can start to allocate positions to players and to work on the specialist skills required.
