Post Match Review - 13th June 2010
A big thanks to Martin who came straight from work to usher the 8s this week and did a great job throughout the game. A week off for the little horrors is probably the best option following a stuttering performance against a well organised Millom 8s team. We had the usual flashes of individual brilliance from most on the pitch and we’ve two weeks to pull these moments into a team performance. To leak 14 tries in 30 minutes suggests we’ll be having a defensive focus over the next fortnight before the 8s meet a big Dalton team at home! Ethan (4) and Spencer (2) made the scoreline a little more easy to swallow with some brilliant rugby but an off day for most led to an eventual good hiding. All character building stuff, all accepted with good grace and sporting handshakes so all good. Keep your heads up and keep asking questions of yourself in the tackle – YES YOU CAN!
The 10s played a very close and extremely entertaining score draw against a team that mullered them 11-1 at the start of the season. Some magnificent refereeing allowed the game to flow and both teams responded with expansive running rugby. In terms of physical presence we were the same as our opponents with big runners complimented with fast backs. Petch, Matty, Jacob & Will sharing the spoils with some fantastic team work and supporting runs all over the park leading to a try each. Wazza and Elliott again making a huge impact in the early tackle count followed by some deft passing and kick chase play from the rest of the squad that must be even more impressive from the touchline than it is when you’re running alongside trying to keep up. An excellent all round performance from everyone. Ulverston away this Sunday against a side we’ve yet to play. More of the same from everyone should see us chalk up another good result and demonstrate the rapid development of September’s Under 12s team.
Following training this Friday the big screens will be on in the downstairs room for the England game and I’m told that well behaved kids are more than welcome.
Summer Ball tickets are now all gone, thanks to those who have purchased.
