Post Match Review - 10th May 2009 (Coop Festival)
A well organised event and some excellent displays from both the 8s and 10s. I am extremely confident that next year we will see some major successes. As a club we have already achieved our season 1 goals as your kids surpass any expectations we had for them from here on in. We will move into the 2010 season with 30 experienced players at three age groups and hopefully a large helping of new kids to compliment these - I can't wait!
Accounts were opened today for Harvey Coops who eventually got his name on the scoresheet (twice) for a well deserved opener. Spencer Bircher also opened his account with a determined effort in the corner. Sam and Jake also found themselves on the scoresheet in a thrilling 8 all draw with a very organised Askam team.
In the second game for the 8s we welcomed back Archie and Lewis and romped to a 9 tries to 4 win over a very big Roose side. As a demonstration of team play this second game had everything - we even scored a FOUR PASS TRY! I can now retire.Lewis, Jake, Archie, Kian and Spencer staking claim to the 36 points.
We still need to make the tackles stick and we still need to move off the line as a unit but I enjoyed myself immensely on Sunday and I hope you did too. You should all be very proud of yourselves.
From what I heard (from the spectators) the 10s were involved in two nail biting games and this again is testimony to how far they've come and how hard they've worked in the short space of time they've been together.
Roose game 6-4
Tries from Austin 2, Tom, Arron
Hindpool/ Dalton 6-5
Tries from Mattie 4, Petch
Matty is just one try away from scoring a career total of 100. Unfortunately he won't be with us on Friday as he'll be getting wet in France so there's no chance of him marking his fantastic achievement at the BBQ.
Everyone is welcome to bring their family and friends to Friday's Post Match BBQ. It will help us to promote the club and help us as a section in our recruitment of a 12s squad. I'll be putting a bucket on the floor for donations but the food is essentially free. The bar will be open from 6pm and there's a game on at 8pm.
See you all there!
