MARSH HORNETS 4 - HAWCOAT STORM 6
A fantastic morning saw two fantastic games of rugby from our boys (and girl).
Firstly The 8s who were obviously smarting from the last two results provided us with an evenly matched contest and eventually ran out 6-4 winners in a thrilling encounter with tries from Lewis (3), Jake (1), Archie (1) and Spencer (1).
We had two tries disallowed in addition to the six we scored and against an established team like Marsh Hornets who are a very solid team, this speaks volumes for the progress the kids have made.
Ethan's supporting run for Lewis which lead to the pass which lead to the try that was judged to have been dropped was, for a novice player of such inexperience, an excellent sign that his game brain is developing well.
As for our defence, we worked hard on this at training on Friday and it obviously paid dividends.
The tries that Marsh Hornets scored were all of a very high standard and as a team there was little we could do about them.
We kept it together and moved back and forward with the referee which was great and we limited the oppositions opportunities to move the ball about.
Defence wins games and this proves the point beautifully.
Both teams should be highly commended for showing the spectators ball handling skills that are of an exceptional standard.
Well done everyone and welcome back LJ and Archie.
UNDER 10s
MARSH HORNETS 7 - HAWCOAT STORM 3
The entertainment levels carried on where they left off with the 10s and after a stuttering start they played the best rugby I personally have seen this season.
We were solid in defence in the second half with some fantastic individual tackles from nearly every member of the team and determined running with a pass to finish.
We continue to improve week after week and the boys are really starting to look good for the last couple of games.
As coaches we simply look for an improvement on the previous week and this is what we get.
St Judes are an unknown team, Millom are Millom so everything points to Roose and the last game of the season at home on the 26th for the 10s defining game - bring a friend!
Well done everyone.
DAD'S GAME FRIDAY 17th
Due to the shear number of wingers we seem to have amongst our parents it will probably be a case of names drawn from a hat for the teams.
Bring your boots and gum shields!
