  2. Hi
Just to let you no Hawcoat Storm rugby Club is now famous in Camp Bastian Afghanistan.
I had a phone call on Christmas day from my best friends son who is in the army, out in Afghanistan working in the hospital, he is a trauma nurse, he is looking after a 5 year old boy who is badly injured and has asked us to send some clothes out there.I sent a hawcoat storm training hoodie, the little boy loves it and won't take it off.
I am going to see if we can get a picture for the club, but not sure if he can get one.

  3. Mark,

Just wanted to say that the determination and stamina of our U12's yesterday was brilliant and never faltered throughout the game.

I am asked from time to time enroute to a game - "Mum, are the team we are going to play this morning big lads?". I can totally understand him asking me this when, in the past, some players from the opposition are not only a head and shoulders bigger than our U12's but half a body taller too!! I tell him size doesn't = ability but nevertheless, there were a few big lads from Dalton and that, coupled with us playing a man down, could have left our boys deflated and negative but it didn't, in fact, it made them more determined and they never gave up as they held their little heads high throughout. I'm right proud of each and every one of them.

Come on Hawcoaters - keep up the good work, stay keen, get mean, kick *ss and shine on!!

  4. Many thanks to Peter who looked after the under 7's team brilliantly at the Millom Festival. In what sometimes seemed like organised chaos, Peter held it all together and inspired some of the best rugby I have seen the team play.

  5. Hi Mark, On behalf of Millom Mini Rugby I would like to thank you for an excellent evening.
Everyone was very impressed with your club and how friendly you all were, the food was lovely and the cooks did a fantastic job!
The kids had a great time and my son has told me he made lots of new friends, which is what it is all about.
Can you please thank the kids for their hard work in the games, and their friendships afterwards, and also everyone else involved, from personal experience I know how much effort goes into organising these events.
We look forward to meeting you again and returning the favour!
Thanks again Lisa myers(chairperson, Millom Mini Rugby)

  7. I think we may have surprised some people today! The discipline of the 10s was commented on by the ref who said it was an easy game to look after as our boys played to the rules throughout. The tenacity and team spirit of the 8s was obvious in both the performance and the result.

    Well done all!

  10. Today was my first time with the 8's and have to say how PROUD I am of the ALL.
We train as a team and this morning played as A TEAM.
From Morgan, Steph and Max playing their first games in storm colours, right the way through to the older ones everyone did their bit.
We set them the target of getting 2 tries, so to acheive 6 is amazing

MUMS and DADS be proud of them ALL, I AM they deserve it.

  11. A great big thank you to our arts and crafts coordinators Mrs Petcher and Mrs Purcell for the production of flags both big and small. Amanda commented on how good they looked as we made our way around the pitch and the time and effort you and your helpers put in was obvious. Thanks again! MB

  12. Mark,
I think the scorers in the 10s match were Matthew (2 tries, 1 goal), Will (1 try, 1 goal), Elliott (1 try, 1 goal) and Connor (1 try) - making it 26-0.
I think enormous credit must go to the coaches who have nurtured these youngsters over the last twelve months (and more). The players stuck in well last year when they took some batterings but yesterday all the hard work came to fruition. I have only been watching mini-RL for four years but that performance was as good as I have seen (certainly comparable with Barrow island Under 10s last season who were a superb side).
It is always nice to be kind to children who try but I am not being kind at all when I say that I wouldn't have marked any of them at less than 9 out of 10 yesterday. Nobody played badly and the ball handling and passing was a treat to watch. As for the defence - well, the scoreline says it all. A magnificent TEAM performance, and achieved against a fairly experienced Roose side who will win far more matches than they lose this year.
The worrying thing for the opposing sides is that this group of boys and girl will only improve - somebody is going to take one heck of a beating off this lot. And, bear in mind that last season's Players Player of the Season (Jacob) was missing through illness!!

I also watched the 8s match and thought the effort and bravery on show was exceptional. They may have lost to a bigger and quicker side but if they need any encouragement they only need to look at the current 10s and see what can be achieved with hard work at training. None of the current 10s found it easy when they first started out in the game. They, too were often out-muscled and out-run - but not any more.

  13. Thanks for a great night last Friday against Millom. The game, the BBQ and seeing my Son score his first try were just brilliant. Your dedication and commitment are much appreciated.

  15. Thanks for all the getwell messages for Charlie. He is still on the crutches. Assesment in 2 weeks by the orthopods. Charlie will be at training, sporting his crutches, and intends to cheer on the Storm. In true MALE style he is milking it. Joking aside, he has been very brave and hopes to be playing very soon.
Once again thanks to you all.

Well done 10's on your first win...keep up the good work!
Sorry, I didn't see the 8's game, but heard you were magnificent again, especially in defence. Well done to all!!!

  22. The boys were a credit to themselves and their families yesterday. It takes a lot to stand in the cold and put your body on the line and they all supassed any expectations I had for them before, during and after the games. Thanks to everyone for making the day such a success.
    Mark

  24. Another fantastic day for our two teams today.
The defence was superb and the boys are really begining to shine, I think that word of mouth will be spreading soon to watch out for our boys they are really doing themselves proud.
A real pleasure to watch our boys playing together as friends and a strong sided team.
Keep up the good work everybody!
